A textile fire protection system in the non-food section of a major retailer – and on an XXL scale: At the Urban Entertainment Centre Sihlcity in Zurich, SIMON PROtec Systems AG designed and installed a smoke curtain system measuring a total of 60 metres in length.
The system comprises three individual units, each 20 metres long, which are connected to one another in a modular fashion, thereby forming a continuous smoke barrier. Each individual unit consists of four roller assemblies. Central control is provided by an M-SHEV-48 RSV control unit, which ensures the power supply to the curtain systems connected in parallel.
The unique, curved ceiling structure presented a key challenge for the project management team. To ensure the curtain could be seamlessly integrated into the ceiling, it was therefore necessary to allow for a number of recesses in the ceiling structure.
The project demonstrates how even large-scale textile fire protection solutions can be reliably and precisely integrated into challenging structural conditions. The solution from SIMON PROtec combines effective smoke control with a bespoke installation design.
