Smoke barriers restrict the spread/movement of fire gases within a building in the event of a fire. They form a barrier and provide indispensable containment and channeling of smoke in their fire alarm position. The function of automatic or manually operated smoke barriers is identical to that of static smoke barriers, but the former can be rolled up and concealed. All types of smoke curtains are tested according to DIN EN 12101-1.
Until now, our Smoke PROtec smoke curtain was only tested as a automatic smoke curtain made of flexible material. The certificate of performance resistance covered only the automatic smoke curtain ASB3 (with head box, motor, control unit, etc.). Due to the gravity-fail-safe principle, the smoke curtains are fail-safe. The Smoke PROtec has the class D120 - that means it is temperature resistant up to 600° degrees Celsius for 120 minutes.
Now we have extended our certificate with the static smoke curtain SSB, made of flexible material. The classification of the smoke curtain in class D120 remains. This means that from now on we can supply our Smoke PROtec also as a static smoke curtain with CE declaration of performance.
The prerequisite for obtaining the declaration of performance is that the installation is carried out exactly according to the specifications. The fastening of the smoke curtain for wall or ceiling mounting must be reinforced in terms of fire protection.
